POSITION SUMMARY
The chief technology officer (CTO) reports to the VP and GM, Sensitech and Taylor and is responsible for establishing the technical vision and leading all aspects of the company`s smart cold chain technology development. The CTO is the unit`s top technology executive, playing an integral role in the company`s strategic direction, development, and future growth as it relates to the smart cold chain initiative.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• In partnership with the business leaders, to include strategic marketing, product management and hardware and software engineering, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the business unit`s services, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success
• Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as marketing, operations, technology as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
• Provide leadership to department heads in a fashion that supports the company`s culture, mission and values.
• Conducts research and case studies on leading edge technologies and makes determinations on the probability of implementation.
• Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms for delivering the company`s services
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices
• Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support customer and company needs
• Consults on security and privacy approach (BigData)
• Provides innovative path for IoT
• Focus on service deliverables to both internal and external customers
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
• BS in related field and at least 15 years` experience in the technology arena, at least 10 years management and strategic experience in this field or MBA/MS in related filed with 10 years` experience, 7 of which must be managerial and 10–15 years of management experience in a growth software or wireless environment.
• Demonstrated ability to envision software, wireless and/ or data analytics services that meet customer needs or solve business problems.
• Knowledge of wireless, mobile/handheld, web, Big Data, IoT, software and electronic hardware technologies
• Proven leadership ability
• Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
