Position Summary
Achievement First seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and to be a key strategic adviser to senior leadership. The CFO will manage AF’s finance team, make AF a model for financial operations among charter schools and traditional districts, and help AF be one of the first charter management organizations to achieve financial self-sufficiency at scale, meaning it will operate solely on public dollars. The position will also manage Achievement First’s facilities team, which is responsible for identifying, acquiring, renovating and maintaining all of the buildings in the AF network.
The CFO will oversee a staff of thirteen finance professionals and an additional team of five facilities staff (the team has capacity to grow as needed) whose primary focus is on the development and financing of AF’s educational facilities. The CFO position requires managerial experience as well as experience interacting effectively with senior leadership, school-level administrators, donors and members of the AF Board.
The successful candidate will ensure that AF maintains a culture that puts children first and ensures outstanding support to our schools. He or she will combine a capacity for systems-level and strategic thinking, careful attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills in building relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders.
