Reporting into the CEO of Health, The VP & CTO for the Health Division is responsible for establishing and executing a division-wide technology strategy to support the current and future requirements of the business operations. This strategy will include the development of stronger division wide strategies, competencies, and plans in areas such as enterprise business solutions (including CRM), website design / consolidation / management, cloud / hosted computing centers managed, end user computing practices, and security protocols; all done in conjunction with the Wolters Kluwer Global Business Services (GBS) organization.
Additionally, the VP & CTO will also act in a division wide technology strategy leadership role, staying appraised of leading edge tools and technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and health industry standards to be deployed into the Health division`s external product / solution offerings; this may extend to performing the function of advanced research / development for the organization and in conjunction with the Health division`s business and engineering leadership who will adopt functionality into commercialized solutions. Partner with GPO to drive the adoption of global technology assets, decreasing time to market and accelerating innovation in the Health product portfolio.
In the above, the CTO will lead the division`s community of practice associated with the outlined functions.
The Health CTO must be both a technology visionary and a strong business leader capable of developing a broad divisional technology strategy and vision while leading / supporting a team to execute on near term plans and roadmap milestones within a defined budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Develop the division`s information technology strategy and vision for its business operations and, in partnership with the division`s leaders.
• Work with BU leads to optimize our product development processes, driving customer interaction and customer centric product development.
• Advance to pre-commercialization various advanced technologies (i.e. machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data / analytics) in conjunction with key future product technology requirements across the division.
• Develop and lead a division wide community of practice for commercialization technical program management including the development of a common set of tools such as business case and other document templates.
• Act as the strategic interface with the Wolters Kluwer GPO and GBS organization. Co-lead the implementation / program management of key infrastructure services for the division in conjunction with these organizations. Serve as executive advisor to the CEO, Health and the Health Leadership Team regarding the technology direction and strategy for the Division. Build strong relationships with key industry technology organizations, forums, and thought leaders to remain current on leading industry technology trends and developments as they may apply to the Division strategy and direction. Support M&A activities as requested .
• Collaborate with the Units to create the long term roadmap for technology platform(s) in support of the Health strategy, determining the most efficient ways to reuse developed technologies across the division to shorten time to market. Drive the execution of technology roadmap strategy within the confines of time, resources, market needs.
• In conjunction with the Health Leadership Team, create a world class technology team to deliver on the strategy.
• Work closely with the Division finance team to plan investment strategy and identify opportunities to positively impact top and bottom line results.
Qualifications: • Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in technology, software, and/or application technology Health industry experience and working in a global environment (both) a plus.
• Deep experience in leading teams and projects focused on systems architecture; building and maintaining application technology development platforms, corporate software applications, application platform interfaces (APIs); software development and implementation.
• Experience in a matrixed environment with effective strategies to support and reinforce a shared services model.
• Demonstrated ability driving customer oriented technical product development.
• Lean product development process.

• UX led development processes.
• Demonstrated ability to drive culture and process change in well-established organizations.
