United Way for Greater Austin inspires, leads, and unites an eclectic community of philanthropists including individuals, nonprofits, business and government to overcome barriers to economic opportunities and ensure Greater Austin continues to thrive. United Way for Greater Austin`s work is research-based and results driven and resources are invested so that everyone has access to the promise of Austin. UWATX is involved in the Greater Austin community by running strategic programs such as Success By 6, Target Graduation, Financial Opportunity and the Navigation Center. We engage in civic leadership by developing corporate alliances, public/private partnerships, and philanthropic best practices. UWATX is the philanthropic backbone of Greater Austin, raising $17 million in 2011 through individual, employee, foundation, corporate and online gifts as well as engaging thousands of volunteers through annual Days of Service, employee campaign coordination, and strategic advisors (400+ volunteers committed to the mission of UWATX).
