For the past several decades, Citrus College's music program has been a recognized leader in education and performance. Continuing to develop the aspiring musicians' diversity and marketability, Citrus College has created visionary and exciting ensembles such as the The Citrus Singers, Blue Note Swing Orchestra, Night Shift, The World Percussion ensemble and the new Salsa and Cumbia bands. These ensembles expand the student's performance skills and repertoire to include the finest Jazz, Pop, Rock and Latin pedagogy. Citrus College was one of the first Community Colleges in the United States to develop an applied music/individual study program, allowing instrumental and vocal students the opportunity to receive private lessons from the finest professional musicians in Los Angeles. Citrus' applied program has become a model for both two and four year institutions. Our students perform throughout the world and have received critical acclaim and numerous awards including Grammy nominations, downbeat awards as well as countless national and international festival honors. This summer, Citrus will be hosting the Citrus Summer Conservatory, designed for High School and College students interesting in Musical Theatre, an Instrumental and Dance Conservatory as well as the 2nd annual Grammy Camp. The Grammy foundation will be selecting over100 of the most talented student performers, composers and songwriters from throughout the United States to attend this summer's camp at Citrus College and you could be one of them! Citrus College studios have afforded student ensembles the opportunity to record with nationally recognized guest artists, perform on sound tracks for television commercials and motion pictures. Annually, thousands of patrons attend musical events at the Haugh Performing Arts Center including Christmas Is…, our annual spring musical and the Battle of the Big Bands.
