In 1993, a novel technology was invented by a team that included Jon Faiz Kayyem, PhD at The California Institute of Technology (CalTech). This invention combined nucleic acids and microelectronics to produce an electronic sensor for DNA detection. His invention was based on electrical detection of nucleic acids on a cassette based detection platform. Dr. Kayyem went on to found Clinical Micro Sensors, with the goal of translating this “eSensor” technology to disposable chips. iSpecimen

iSpecimen is a supplier of human clinical specimens to the therapeutic, diagnostic and academic research industries. Our mission is to make it easy for medical researchers to access liquid and solid clinical lab specimens. We supply researchers with a range of liquid and solid specimens such as plasma, serum, whole blood, urine, CSF and FFPE blocks and slides.   To provide researchers with access to richly-annotated specimens that precisely match their requirements, we track millions of specimens, and associated patient data, that flow through our clinical partner network. We match these specimens and data against our customers’ study requirements. When a match is made we pick, pack and ship selected specimens to researchers.
